Top 20 Mom-Approved Plus Size Influencers to Follow Right Now

Get fresh fashion tips and advice from 20 plus size influencers that real moms follow and recommend.

Plus size influencers now occupy an important segment of widely-followed users on Instagram. We wanted to find out which plus-size fashion advocates moms gravitate toward. So we gathered up all the influencer lists we can find from trusted sources. Then we whittled it down to the 20 most popular.

For this listing, we took a look at the following articles, blog posts, and rankings:

Here’s what we found.

How Plus Size Influencers Shaped the Fashion Industry

The rise of plus-size fashion brings tremendous opportunities for clothing makers and sellers. That’s why we’re seeing more and more fashion brands expand their lines into newer size ranges that, until a couple of years ago, had practically been non-existent. That’s mostly thanks to plus size influencers who paved the way.

Plus Size is Big Business

Based on data published by Coresight Research, the plus-size category remains the fastest-growing segment in the U.S. apparel market. In 2016 alone, Americans spent more than $21 billion on plus-size clothing items. Moreover, with over half of adult women wearing at least a size 14, the trend is expected to last well into the coming years.

Accordingly, major fashion brands and retailers continue to ramp up their focus on plus-size collections. Now, it’s becoming easier to find a more diverse clothing line available in different outlets, with sizes that extend from 14 all the way to 28.

The Impact of Plus Size Influencers

It hasn’t always been like this, though. In fact, the fashion industry had notoriously been very slow to meet the demands of the plus-size segment. It needed the efforts of a number of leading plus size influencers and their followers to really get things going. An episode of the Knowledge@Wharton radio show sums up this evolution really well. It wasn’t just economic pressure that finally forced businesses to branch out into this under-served market, but also social pressure.

Designers and retailers took notice when showbiz personalities like Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Rachel Bloom, Beyonce, and others called them out for ignoring the needs of plus-size individuals. Social pressure also came in the form of legions of digitally-savvy women proudly expressing body positivity and loudly pushing back against body shaming.

It was in this backdrop where plus size influencers like Tess Holliday, Gabi Fresh, and Denise Bidot started becoming an inspiration to more and more women and helped bring plus-size fashion to the mainstream. In a digital landscape strewn with cherry-picked, highly-photoshopped content, many people saw plus size influencers as more authentic and relatable than most online personalities.

Top Plus Size Influencers on Instagram to Inspire Moms

To many women, plus size influencers offer a breath of fresh air and a jolt of motivation. Moms make up an important slice of this group. With all the responsibilities and worries that come with motherhood, fashion and style can take a backseat in most moms’ priorities. But, as these influencers show, you can be fabulous because of (not despite) being a mom.

Based on our compilation of different mom-recommended plus size influencers, here are the 20 most popular (ranked by number of Instagram followers at time of writing):

One year later. CW: Miscarriage It’s been 365 days since we lost our baby to a missed miscarriage. I’ve been anticipating this day since the calendar turned to July. I’ve been checking in with myself a lot and reliving some of the past pain of the days leading up to and following the loss. And while it was a very traumatic event I never thought I would experience – today I want to say that I am a survivor, and I want to share a message of hope to anyone else struggling to see a light. I’ve learned so much about myself, and others, that I want to share with you: *All things heal in time, as long as you GIVE yourself the time to heal *There is strength in vulnerability *Talking about our pain and trauma is not only healing for us, but for others *You can’t fully experience and appreciate the light, unless you live through the darkness *Our plans (and our timing) are not always God’s plans, but His are better *You are never, ever, ever alone I can’t explain why I have experienced 3 miscarriages (2 chemical and 1 missed miscarriage) over the last 18 months or why I struggled with secondary infertility. And I certainly couldn’t even begin to guess what life might bring next. But I can, without a shadow of a doubt, say that I can handle anything, and everything, that is to come. And so can you. You will heal. It will get better. Just do you babes Xoxo Allie

I consistently find myself gravitating towards as many raw, real and honest conversations as possible. Creating dialogue around stigmas and leaning right into taboo topics.⁣ ⁣ And when I get any opportunity to advocate for brands whose messaging aligns with my same passions of helping women and shattering stigmas, it’s such a beautiful feeling!⁣ ⁣ I’m so excited to shine a light on @poisebrand’s commitment to empowering women. From offering solutions for moms whose bladders leak a little, to funding female entrepreneurs with small businesses that are making a difference by challenging the status quo and uplifting women.⁣ ⁣ As a part of their Bounce Back Grants program, Poise is giving 30 female-owned small businesses each $15,000 to help with any hardships created by the current economic climate.⁣ ⁣ Ten of the businesses that they’ve already supported are listed on their website and all of their stories are seriously inspiring!⁣ ⁣ You can learn more about them at the link in my stories. ✨⁣ ⁣ It’s never been more important to support female-owned small businesses and I’m proud to support a brand that makes it a priority to do just that.⁣ ⁣ #breakingstigmas #empoweringwomen #ad

Growing up, I wanted to be a princess. As the oldest, I often felt that the world revolved around me. ⁣ ⁣ In sixth grade, I joined National Charity League, and a big part of that organization is volunteering in your community. ⁣ ⁣ I had so many unique experiences, from rocking babies for hours while their teen moms took classes to helping kids with different abilities have summer adventures. ⁣ ⁣ At such a young age, my life's perspective started to shift! ⁣ In my 20's, I started my career in the nonprofit sector and was a Volunteer Manager of a big nonprofit for many years. ⁣ ⁣ While I might still occasionally act like a princess – I'm proud to be a queen! A queen who wants to help make the world a kinder place.⁣ ⁣ So during this time of uncertainty, let's all be there for one another and fix our fellow queen's crowns.⁣ ⁣ Suggestions for supporting one another while social distancing: ⁣ ⁣ – Setup Skype playdates for your kids and while you're at it a few virtual mom dates for yourself and friends! ⁣ ⁣ – Pick up the phone and reconnect with that Facebook friend who comments on all your posts! ⁣ ⁣ – Dust off your stationery and send some love notes in the mail to friends and family to brighten their day. ⁣ ⁣ What other fun suggestions do you have? ⁣ ⁣ My fellow queens, please know I'm here in this with you, and we are not alone! ⁣👑 ⁣ #plusmommy #plussizemom #plussizemommy

Do you have a dream for YOU?⠀ ⠀ Having dreams and working towards them is an act of self-care. Your dreams can be as lofty as starting a multiple six-figure business or as simple as fitting into your pre-pregnancy jeans (still not there and I’m blaming this quarantine).⠀ ⠀ Too often, we let our dreams go dormant when life gets busy. Our responsibilities as a wife, mom and/or homemaker/homeschooler take over everything until there’s only energy left for binging on The Office when the day is done.⠀ ⠀ If you’re doing that, I need you to⠀ ⠀ ❌ STOP ❌⠀ ⠀ Following your dreams and doing something that brings YOU joy and satisfaction is an essential PART of being good to you and your family. ⠀ ⠀ You may go a little while on the high of embracing self-denial but let me tell you, not doing something that fills you with joy and accomplishment is going to catch up to you.⠀ ⠀ Eventually, you’re going to start feeling unhappy and worse, resentful.⠀ ⠀ ❖ It will be anger with your partner for being able to do things for himself when you’re “stuck” taking care of home and hearth.⠀ ❖ It will be frustration with your kids for not listening to you when you do everything for them.⠀ ❖ It’ll be the rising impatience with your housework that never ends, no matter how much help you have.⠀ ⠀ I have two dreams right now.⠀ ⠀ ✨ To build and grow my business as a mom and mompreneur mentor where I can help other moms live their BEST lives.⠀ ⠀ ✨To work on my health and fitness so that I can keep up with 3 super active boys.⠀ ⠀ But here’s the thing- No one is going to give value to my dreams UNTIL👏🏻I 👏🏻START👏🏻VALUING👏🏻THEM.⠀ ⠀ And it's the same for you. Here’s how you can do it;⠀ ⠀ 🌱 Define your dreams starting with the biggest one⠀ ✏️ Write them out and put them somewhere you can see⠀ ⠀ 💫 Visualise them. Imagine what it feels like to get there⠀ ⠀ 📋 Create a plan to get there⠀ ⠀ Your dreams matter dear friend. And I would love to hear one dream that you have for yourself. that you will work to make a reality.⠀ ⠀ #motherhoodinspired
